Library Services: Faculty

Research Made Easier!

The following resources are available to our faculty through your campus library. Please contact a local librarian if you have any questions. If you're seeking an advanced degree, learn more about our Library Resources for LSC Employees Working on Advanced Degrees.

Request Library Instruction

Librarians offer instruction sessions designed specifically to meet the needs of your classes. The goal of library instruction is to teach students how to navigate the library, assist students with the research process using both online and print sources, develop critical thinking skills in selecting and evaluating information, and emphasize the value of information through academic integrity and the ethical use of information through use of citations and other best practices. Choose the type of library instruction you need:

Request Research Guides

Your libraries offer basic or customized research guides for student use. Librarians are always happy to create a subject or assignment guide designed exactly for your class. Contact a campus reference librarian to make arrangements.

Discuss Academic Integrity Issues with Students

Proactive discussion of academic integrity issues such as plagiarism and copyright helps to clarify what is expected of students when they prepare coursework. View the LSC academic integrity policy for more details.

Put Items on Course Reserve

Place personally-owned or college-owned books, videos, articles, and other materials on reserve for your students at any LSC library. Complete the online form before bringing your items to the library.

Search for reserves by item title in the library catalog.

Design Effective Assignments

Your librarians are always eager to help you make the most of your time and energy. Here are some tips to keep in mind when creating library assignments.

Search the Library Catalog

Find books, DVDs, CDs, and more in the library catalog. Request listed items with your college ID/library card to be sent to your local library.

Use Meeting and Study Rooms

Check room availability and reservation procedures for individual/group study or meetings at campus libraries.

Add Streaming Videos to D2L classes

Learn more about the academic video databases available for viewing in face-to-face classes or linking/embedding in D2L courses.

Note: Videos in the Films on Demand database are purchased on a title by title basis. Kanopy films are purchased based on viewership until the allocated funds are depleted.

*Availability may change due to streaming rights provided to the database and may be limited due to budget constraints. Submit your title suggestions using our online form.

Request Books, Videos, CDs, Articles, & More

Find Articles in Research Databases

Search an amazing array of research databases in science, history, art, news, literature, and more topics. For off-campus access, login with your fourteen digit library barcode number located on the back of your college ID/library card.

Locate e-journals available through our databases by searching the A-Z Electronic Journal List. Included is the Chronicle of Higher Education. Find this and other professional development resources on the Research Databases: Education page.

Recommend Materials for Purchase

Lone Star College students, employees, and community members are invited to recommend materials for purchase. Suggestions will be evaluated based on the Libraries’ Collection Development Policy, the item’s usefulness to the collection, and current budgetary constraints. Submit your title suggestions using our Online form.
