LSC-Montgomery New Student Registration Checklist

A new student is a student who has never enrolled and/or registered for classes at any Lone Star College campus.

Step 1: Apply for Admission

Have you already completed the Apply Texas application? If yes, go in and add Lone Star College as a college option.
Otherwise, complete the online admissions application. You can apply any time with no application fee.

Step 2: Bacterial Meningitis Vaccination

All incoming students must comply with the Bacterial Meningitis Vaccination Requirements unless they are exempt, taking online or hybrid classes. *Students 22 years of age or older do not need to complete the Bacterial Meningitis requirement.
Our Admissions department can assist you with this requirement hold. Contact them via the Need Help information listed below or visit the Montgomery Admissions and Records page.

Step 3: Placement Testing

Complete the Pre-Assessment Activity (PAA). The PAA must be completed prior to taking the TSIA2 Assessment and is available online. Click here to access the Online PAA.
Provide your high school transcript, college/university transcript, SAT, ACT or Texas Success Initiative (TSI) scores to the Admissions Office before registering for classes.
If you don’t have any of those available, visit the Testing Center to schedule a test or contact our Testing Center at MCTestingCenter@LoneStar.edu.

Step 4: New Student Orientation

All first time in college students are required to complete New Student Orientation before registering for classes. On campus Orientation sessions are also available.
If you are transferring in from another college or university, you can skip this step. Contact New Student Orientation via the Need Help information listed below to assist you with this hold.

Step 5: Meet with an Advisor

Meet with an Advisor to discuss your degree or certificate program and get a list of classes to register for. Visit us during our hours of operation.

Step 6: Register and Pay for Classes

EDUC 1300 is required for most programs. Please verify with your advisor if you are unsure of your status.
Payment due dates vary by semester.

Textbooks and Technology

Purchase textbooks from the Bookstore or other vendors.
Students meeting the minimum number of enrolled credit hours may request the use of an HP Windows Laptop bundle or an Apple iPad bundle from our on campus Office of Technology Services. See LSC TechConnect details here.
