What is EDUC 1300?

The Strategies for EDUC 1300 is a small, engaging class for first year students. Your first year of college is both exciting and overwhelming! EDUC 1300 is a great way for you to learn about what it takes to be successful at LSC-Montgomery and beyond. Both our Faculty and Staff are here to help you smoothly transition to college life. EDUC 1300 is 3 credit hour, graded course, that is offered in the Fall and Spring terms.

What Will I Learn?

The course is designed to assist you in achieving the following goals:

  1. Articulate research-proven student success strategies and skills.
  2. Discuss and apply research-based strategies to daily practices as a college student.
  3. Have an increased sense of confidence and skills in performing college-level tasks.
  4. Understand the connection between academic success and your own strengths and motivation.
  5. Set effective goals contributing to academic success.
  6. Understand the elements pertaining to good decisions with the focus on academic, financial, career, along with the importance of managing stress and time in effective ways.

What are Learning Communities/Freshman Interest Groups (FIGs)?

How does it work?
This will bring students together with common interests who will take/attend the same core classes where they are able to support each other through coursework, study groups, as well as socially outside the classroom environment.
