Medical Professional Liability
The purpose of the liability insurance is to protect students from claims arising out of real or alleged malpractice when the injury claimed is the result of professional error, accident, or omission while participating in activities that are a part of and a requirement of the students’ curriculum.
Description of Student Professional Liability Insurance:
Limit of Liability: $1,000,000 each medical incident
$5,000,000 aggregate
Coverage: Coverage is for claims arising out of real or alleged malpractice, regardless of the number of claims or persons involved, when the injury being claimed is the result of professional error, accident, or omission. During a normal curriculum period, the students are insured 24 hours a day, while participating in activities which are a part of and a requirement of the students' curriculum. Under this program, students are not covered for related employment. Please note: coverage described therein is subject to all the terms, exclusions, and conditions contained in the Lone Star College System Professional Medical Liability insurance policy. The school and faculty members are also covered as additional insured’s while supervising and/or instructing the students insured under the provisions of the policy. We recommend that faculty members check with their financial advisors regarding their need for individual professional liability insurance.
Report a Claim: Please complete the Risk Management Incident Report, and return the completed form to the Risk Management SNOW System.

Certificate of Insurance Requests:
If a host site for clinical, practicum, internship or co-operative coursework requests a Certificate of Insurance (COI), from the Lone Star College System, please complete a Certificate of Insurance (COI) Request Form and submit the request to the Risk Management SNOW System. Please allow seven (7) business days to process the COI request.
