In the sophomore literature surveys, English Literature 2322 and 2323, American Literature 2327 and 2328, World Literature 2332 and 2333, and in Selected Studies in Literature (English 2354), instructors may employ whatever methods that, in their opinion, best facilitate learning for the student.
Instructors may also supplement the chosen texts, but they should be careful not to endanger course consistency by excessive supplementation.
Further, instructors may employ individual evaluation methods and systems as long as they adhere to the stated policy of the Lone Star College System bulletin.
Finally, all instructors of sophmore-level literature survey courses must include as part of the course ten pages of research on a topic relevant to the literature studied in that course. The student should be given the option of doing a combination of shorter researched papers or one, ten-page paper. The papers must include a total of at least six secondary, non-reference sources and follow current MLA documentation procedures.
