lifePATH Foundations is a four-semester continuing education (CE) program for students with IQ scores of 60 or above. This program serves two purposes:
1. Preparation/Bridge program for lifePATH OLSA (which requires 70+ IQ scores or passing scores on the OLSA assessments given during student's Spring lifePATH Foundations courses).
2. Development of greater independence and preparation for entry-level positions in customer service industries.
Regardless of whether students pass the assessments that qualify them to move on to lifePATH OLSA (4-year accredited associate degree in Occupational and Life Skills), students in lifePATH Foundations are fully integrated into Lone Star College-Tomball’s campus life and benefit from a curriculum focused on self-advocacy, career exploration, resume building, interview practice, group internships, Service Learning, confidence building, academic practice, and soft skills development. This comprehensive approach equips students with the tools, experiences, and knowledge base necessary to thrive in both personal and professional settings.
Benefits of the Foundations Program:
- Bridge to lifePATH OLSA for students who pass the assessments
- Small cohorts of approximately 8 students
- Reduced course load of 2 to 3 classes per semester
- Learning strategy focus
- Campus job shadowing
- Supported community internship

Guardianship
Students who wish to enroll in the lifePATH program must not be under any form of guardianship. All incoming lifePATH students are required to be their own full legal guardians, meaning they must have the legal capacity to make decisions for themselves. While we do accept applications from individuals who have supported decision-making arrangements in place, it is essential that applicants demonstrate their ability to function independently.
Additionally, all applicants must be at least 18 years of age by the first day of their initial semester in order to be eligible for admission. This age requirement ensures that students are legally recognized as adults and can fully engage in the responsibilities that come with being part of the lifePATH program.
Application Process
- Attend a lifePATH Information Session
- Submit lifePATH Admission Application
- Submit Full & Individual Educational Evaluation or other disability educational evaluation which includes the 4 scores listed above.
