Information for Faculty

Important Reminders for Faculty

  • Instructors based out of Kingwood are expected to physically pick up their completed exams, unless circumstances do not permit. If such is the case, please mention so in your Test Requests so the Testing Center can find an alternative method of delivering your completed exams.
  • Please bring a valid photo ID when picking up your exams at the Kingwood Testing Center; if a representative is picking up in your stead, please ask them to bring a valid photo ID.
  • The Testing Center is not responsible for administering tests for entire classes in an instructor’s absence; we suggest instructors arrange for a substitute teacher or re-schedule such exams.
  • Please ensure that any information you have provided your students about their test is also communicated to the Testing Center via your Test Request form (e.g. calculators or notecards can be used, how to navigate to their exam through their online testing portal, etc.).
  • The Testing Center is only responsible for handling exams and is not to serve as an alternative location to hand in assignments, projects, or homework.
  • Please encourage your students to visit the Testing Center’s webpage for LSCS students so they are prepared when arriving at our facility, or feel free to refer to the information below about their responsibilities and share this with them.

Submitting Test Requests

For information or assistance on how to submit a Test Request online via iStar, please visit the Faculty Testing Resources.

If you would prefer to use the Test Request form we distribute at our facility, please e-mail kingwood.testing@lonestar.edu for an electronic copy to be e-mailed to you.

  • Please understand that the Testing Center will only administer your exams per the instructions provided via Test Request.  The more detailed your instructions, the less likely our facility will need to contact you for clarification.
  • Please ensure that any information you have provided your students about their test is also communicated to the Testing Center via your Test Request form (e.g. calculators or notecards can be used, how to navigate to their exam through their online testing portal, etc.).
  • Please provide sufficient copies of tests, if possible.
  • Please provide a phone number in your Test Request where you can be reached across all of our hours of operation.  Such phone numbers will be kept confidential; students will be directed to your syllabus if they need to access your contact information.

Your Student’s Responsibilities When Testing at Our Facility

  • Bring a valid photo ID so our staff can ensure no proxy testing is occurring (LSCS Student IDs are preferred)
  • Know their instructor’s FULL NAME, as all LSCS testing centers file exams by the instructor’s last name
  • Know the specific test they are taking (e.g. Test 2, Unit 4, Midterm, etc.), and course number, as well (e.g. MATH 0306, HIST 1301)
  • Furnish their own scantrons, bluebooks, etc., unless provided by instructor
  • Understand the following: To promote test security, a distraction-free environment, and parity for all exam candidates, certain materials are not allowed in the testing room, including but not limited to:
    • Bags / Backpacks
    • Wallets / Purses
    • Cell phones
    • Watches
    • Electronic devices
    • Hats, caps, or other forms of headwear
    • Sunglasses / Eye glass cases
    • Covers of calculators
    • Food or drink (including gum)

Only items allowed to complete your exam will be allowed to enter the testing room.  Consequently, and given the limited storage capacity of our facility, it is in your best interest to travel as lightly as possible, leaving such items in your vehicle, if possible.  Otherwise, all such items will need to be stored away in a locker provided by our facility.

Students in Need of Special Accommodations

Please do not hesitate to make arrangements prior to testing with the Office of Disability Services when a student with special needs requires one-on-one proctoring, a reader/scribe/interpreter, assistive technology, etc.  If a student simply needs certain accommodations for their test such as extended time, assistive aids, etc., feel free to simply include this information in your Test Request.

Make LSC part of your story.
