What is the purpose?
The main purpose of a co.op/internship is to give students an opportunity to work in their career field and gain valuable experience, explore careers, or find permanent employment. Co-op may be done part.time or full.time on a paid or volunteer basis.
Who is Eligible?
Lone Star College-North Harris students who are enrolled in one of the above programs and who have completed at least 15 credits towards that certificate or degree. Programs such as Computer Information Systems, Interactive Media, and Computer Graphic Design allow co-op to be taken only in the last semester of the certificate or degree program.
Who is the Employer?
The program has many employers in the local area and downtown who have expressed an interest in participating in co.op/internship placements. Students can also bring in for consideration an employer they are already working for if the job is career related and meaningful.
What are Minimum Job Requirements?
Students must work a minimum of 20 hours per week for 16 weeks in a paid or unpaid (in some cases) work experience.
