The Lone Star College-Tomball Faculty Senate is an active organization of committed professional faculty dedicated to creating a vibrant community of learners, service to our community, and furthering the professional experiences and opportunities for faculty. The LSC-Tomball Faculty Senate promotes clear and constructive communication and facilitation of mutually beneficial partnerships for Faculty, Administration, and the Board of Trustees of Lone Star College System.

 

Faculty Senate Leadership

Cory Colby, Professor of Political Science
President

LSC-Tomball Faculty Senate President, Professor Cory Colby Cory Colby serves as Professor of Political Science for Lone Star College-Tomball and as the Faculty Fellow for Student Focus for The Center for Teaching and Learning at Lone Star College System Office. He has been with Lone Star College-Tomball for nine years and previously worked as a high school teacher while also working for Lone Star College-Montgomery as an adjunct. He has also taught for University of Houston.

Cory is a first-gen college student who graduated from Lone Star College System in the early 2000s. He earned his undergrad and graduate degrees at Sam Houston State University where his focus was on political theory and ethics. 

During his time at LSC-Tomball, he created  the annual Free Speech Poetry Slam and the Government and Politics Forum. He also served as the SGA advisor for six years.

Dr. Alice Ferron Gabriele, Professor of History
Vice President

LSC-Tomball Faculty Senate Vice President, Dr. Alice Ferron-Gabriele

Dr. Alice Ferron-Gabriele teaches history at LSC Tomball. She was Department Chair for the Social Sciences from 2021-2024 and was a Faculty Excellence Award Winner in 2021. Dr. Ferron also teaches in the honors college and loves supervising student research projects.

Prior to joining LSC, Dr. Ferron taught at HISD, HCC, Kings College London, and University College London. She is a specialist in Late Medieval Women's History and holds a PhD and MA in History from UCL as well as a BA in History and English Literature from Agnes Scott College.

Rebekah Williams, Professor of Mathematics
Secretary

Rebekah Williams is a Professor of Mathematics at Lone Star College–Tomball. She has been at LSC-Tomball for eight years, joining the college in January 2016 as an adjunct and transitioning to a full-time position in the fall of 2018. She is a Faculty Excellence Award winner, a Greater Tomball Area Chamber of Commerce Teacher of the Month, and a H.O.W.L. Awards Faculty Rising Star. She is one of the founding members of the LSC-Tomball Scholarship Bake Sale committee, and she regularly serves as a student mentor with the Student Success Institute.
Rebekah graduated summa cum laude from the University of Mississippi and subsequently earned her master’s degree at the University of Alabama in Huntsville, both degrees in mathematics. As a master’s student, she completed the requirements for secondary teaching certification in the state of Alabama, but she discovered her passion for teaching at the post-secondary level during her time as a graduate teaching assistant.
