FILING FOR NOVEMBER 5, 2024 ELECTION FOR
PLACE ON THE LONE STAR COLLEGE SYSTEM
BOARD OF TRUSTEES
Voters will go to the polls on November 5, 2024 to determine who will hold three places on the Lone Star College System nine-member Board of Trustees. Up for election are Districts 1, 2, and 8. The terms are for six years.
Individuals seeking to be elected in Districts 1, 2, or 8 may file as candidates by submitting the required paperwork on weekdays from Monday, July 22, 2024, through Monday, August 19, 2024, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Please note that the office is closed on Friday, July 26th, Friday, August 2nd and Friday, August 9th. Filing forms and other useful information are available by clicking on the links on this page or in the Chancellor's Office at 5000 Research Forest Drive, The Woodlands, TX 77381. Please check in with the receptionist on the first floor of The Woodlands Leadership Building.
To be a qualified candidate, a person must:
- be a United States citizen;
- be eighteen years of age
- be a registered voter
- has not been finally convicted of a felony from which he/she has not been pardoned or otherwise released from resulting disabilities
- has not been finally determined mentally incapacitated
- and has lived in the State of Texas for the last twelve months and within the Lone Star College System for the last six months in the District for which the candidate is filing for a position, e.g., a candidate for District 3 must have lived in the State of Texas for the last 12 months and within Lone Star College System District 3 for the last six months.
Board members are elected to single member districts and are volunteers who serve without pay. They serve staggered terms so that there are always experienced members on the board.
Votes for write-in candidates will not be counted unless the individual has filed a declaration of write-in candidacy by August 23, 2024, at the Chancellor’s Office. Early voting will take place October 21 – November 1, 2024. For additional information, please email LSC-Elections@lonestar.edu.
