Mission Statement
Inkling is
the creative writing club of LSC-Tomball and publishes the annual Inkling Creative
Arts Magazine. The club is designed to encourage the creativity of
students, publish student art and writing, teach magazine production, involve
students in campus activities, and host writing events such as our annual Open Mic
and visiting writer readings. Launched in 1991, Inkling is published every spring and celebrates
each new issue of the magazine with a college-wide release party. All
LSC-Tomball students are invited to submit poetry, short fiction, creative
essays, photographs, and artwork for consideration for publication in the
magazine.
Inkling
Creative Writing Club meetings are held every other Thursday from 2-3 PM and
will continue to be scheduled at that time for the foreseeable future. If you
are interested in participating in Inkling, we advise you to leave that time
slot open when planning your schedule each semester. At Inkling meetings, we
write from prompts and share writing, talk about the craft of writing, plan
events and activities, and discuss magazine business and production. As well,
during production season, additional meetings are held to select pieces for the
magazine and design and edit it.
Within Inkling
club and Inkling magazine, students also have the
opportunity to assume leadership roles such as president, vice-president,
secretary, treasurer, editor, and staff member.
