Steps To Graduation
To be eligible for graduation, students must have completed their program in December or plan to complete their program in May or over the summer. All eligible Lone Star College students must apply for graduation through their myLoneStar student account.
In order for your name to appear in the graduation ceremony program, you must apply for graduation before April 1, 2025.

2025 LSC-University Park Graduation Ceremony:

Students who have applied for graduation have received an email to their My.LoneStar.edu email address from Tassel, the official platform used by LSC-UP to capture graduation information for the 2025 LSC-UP graduation ceremony. Emails from Tassel are authentic and are used solely to collect RSVP information from graduates to make the graduation ceremony a success. Graduates must us their My.LonStar.edu email address to login to the Tassel website.
Bachelor's Graduation Ceremony:

- This optional ceremony provides an additional opportunity for students and their families to celebrate graduation in Spanish, complementing the traditional graduation ceremonies held at each home campus

All guests will need a ticket to enter the Berry Center for the graduation ceremony.
Tickets are free of charge and can only be reserved by LSC-University Park graduating students that RSVP to the ceremony. Each student is eligible for a maximum of 8 tickets for their guests.
Please note: To reserve tickets, graduating students MUST RSVP for the graduation ceremony. Students will not be able to request tickets through the Berry Center ticketing link without having submitted an RSVP.

The Berry Center is an ADA-friendly facility. We encourage any guests requiring special accommodations to arrive at 8 a.m. to allow for additional time and assistance, if required. View accessibility information here.
Permitted Items and Photography
- Only clear bags will be allowed into the Berry Center. Please view the bag policy here.
- No balloons, gifts, or flowers.
- No loud noise makers or air horns.
- No strollers, weapons, outside food, drinks, signs, or banners.
- Photography during the ceremony is permitted from a guest's seat only.
- Photography after the ceremony will only be permitted outside of the facility.

All LSC-University Park students participating in the graduation ceremony are required to wear a black cap and gown.
- Students are permitted to decorate their caps for the graduation ceremony to honor their family, degree, graduation, military affiliation, etc.
- Students should not decorate their caps using hate speech, gang affiliations, drug use, obscene or vulgar language, political imagery, or 3-D materials.
- Specific details and guidelines for cap decorations will be covered in the graduation ceremony orientation sessions.
Please note: Ceremony staff members have the authority to disallow any cap decorations that are inappropriate.
Herff Jones is the official vendor for Lone Star College commencement ceremonies. Please visit their website here for a variety of graduation merchandise and materials. The deadline to order your cap and gown is April 12, 2025.
Delivery timeline for direct-to-student orders: Regalia orders are processed and ready for shipment in approximately 21 days. An email will be sent with tracking information when the order ships.
On-campus pick-up is not available at the LSC-University Park campus.

Degrees and/or certificates will be printed and mailed once degree requirements are certified.
Please note that mailings will occur in late July for May graduates, mid-October for summer graduates, and mid-March for December graduates. Students will receive an email to their myLoneStar account. It takes 8-12 weeks to receive the diploma via mail. Contact UPGraduation@LoneStar.edu for more information.

When is the graduation ceremony?
The LSC-University Park Graduation Ceremony will take place on May 9th at the Berry Center, located at 8877 Barker Cypress Rd,Cypress, Texas, 77433. The ceremony will begin promptly at 9:00 a.m.
At what time will the doors at the Berry Center open?
The Berry Center will begin welcoming guests to enter at 8:00 a.m.
Is there a parking fee at the Berry Center for the graduation ceremony?
No, parking is free for both students and guests at the Berry Center.
Will the graduation ceremony be recorded or live-streamed?
Yes. The ceremony will be live-streamed, and the link will be available on the LSC-University Park website one or two days prior to the event. A recording of the ceremony will also be posted on the graduation website a couple of weeks after the event.
Where do I park for the graduation ceremony?
Graduates should park in Lot C, excluding VIP-marked spaces. They may also park in Lot A or B if preferred. Guests should park in Lot A or B, as parking in Lot C is not permitted for them. Please review the Berry Center's parking map for further details.
Can I bring a backpack or purse?
Graduates are not permitted to bring bags to the ceremony. Graduates will be asked to leave some bags in their car or with a family member. It is important to remember that Lone Star College nor the Berry Center are not responsible for any lost or stolen items. Please review the Berry Center's bag policy for more details.
Do I need a ticket?
Graduates do not require a ticket. However, all guests (including children) must have a ticket to attend. Each graduate will be eligible for 8 guest tickets. The ticketing system will open in April, and a link will be available in the Ticketing and Guest section of the graduation website.

Can I decorate my cap?
Yes. Guidelines for cap decorating will be discussed at graduation orientation. These guidelines are also detailed in the Student Caps and Gowns section of the graduation website.
What color are the gowns?
The official color for Lone Star College graduates' caps and gowns is Matte Black. Caps and gowns can be purchased through Herff Jones. For more information, please visit the graduation website.
Is it possible to purchase a cap and gown from Amazon if I missed the deadline?
Yes. Feel free to purchase your cap and gown from an outside source, such as Amazon. Please ensure that the cap and gown are the correct color -- matte black.
Can I wear cords or a stole?
Approved honor cords, stoles, or medallions may be added to your regalia. Examples of approved regalia add-ons include, but are not limited to:
- Honors College Cords, Stoles, and Medallions
- PTK Cords, Stoles, and Medals
- Dual Credit Cords
- SGA Cords
- Veterans Cords
- Student Club/Organization Cords and Stoles
- First Generation Stoles

Can I leave early?
No. Graduates are required to stay until the end of the ceremony. Enjoy and celebrate this milestone with your class!
Can I bring my child to the ceremony?
Yes. Children are encouraged to attend the graduation ceremony. Children are not permitted to sit with graduates on the arena floor. Children must sit with guests in the stands and be accompanied by an adult at all times.
Can I carry my baby across the stage?
No, students are not permitted to carry their babies across the stage during graduation.
What happens if I am late for my ceremony?
Please plan to arrive by 7:30 a.m. for check-in and lineup. Late arrivals may not be placed in order with the other graduates. Be sure to make you necessary arrangements to ensure you arrive on time.
Will there be a reception?
A reception will not be held after the graduation ceremony. However, there are several local restaurants and eateries nearby where you can continue celebrating your achievement.
Can I defer my graduation?
We do not recommend deferring graduation unless you plan to attend the Bachelor’s or Spanish Language Graduation ceremonies. If you plan to attend a different campus, please consult an academic advisor or the graduation department at that campus to confirm participation.
Can I attend the graduation ceremony if I am not marked as a graduate?
We encourage students who have submitted their graduation application or plan to graduate in the summer to attend the graduation ceremony. If you're not listed as a graduate, please contact your academic advisor.
Can I attend the graduation ceremony if I don’t plan on graduating until this summer?
Yes, Lone Star College holds only one graduation ceremony each year in May. Students who plan to complete the required classes for their degree during the summer are eligible to participate in the May graduation ceremony. If you're unsure about your eligibility to graduate in the summer, please contact your Academic Advisor or email the Academic Advising department at: Up-advising@lonestar.edu
Am I eligible for Honors?
- Associate degree graduates with a high cumulative grade point average (GPA) will be recognized on their transcript and diploma as follows:
- 4.0 – 3.9: Summa Cum Laude
- 3.899 – 3.7: Magna Cum Laude
- 3.699 – 3.5: Cum Laude
- Distinction: Students earning Level 1, 2, or 3 certificates with a 4.0 GPA in all courses required for the certificate will be recognized with "With Distinction" on their transcript and diploma.
Can I bring my dog?
Animals are not permitted at the graduation ceremony unless they are service animals. Please review the Berry Center's service animal guidelines for more information: https://www.berrycenter.net/accessibility
What can I bring to the ceremony?
Graduates and guests should bring only essential items. The following are not permitted inside the Berry Center: weapons, alcohol, tobacco, outside food or drinks, strollers, flowers, balloons, noisemakers, banners, or gifts. How early should I arrive?
Graduates must arrive by 7:30 AM to check-in and line up.
Will there be live photography during the ceremonies? How can I access photos from the ceremony?
Yes. Flash Photography is the official photographer for the Lone Star College – University Park graduation ceremony. After the event, each graduate will receive an email with a link to their photos and instructions on how to view and order them.
When will I receive my diploma?
Please allow 8-10 weeks to receive your diploma in the mail after graduation. In some cases, processing may take up to 10-12 weeks. Thank you for your patience!
I am graduating from two ceremonies. Which ceremony should I attend?
You should attend the ceremony that best fits your needs and makes you happiest. Consider the time, date, location, significance, and convenience for you and your guests to ensure the best graduation experience.
What if I cannot attend the ceremony?
If you are unable to attend the ceremony, your diploma will be mailed to your address. If you do not attend the ceremony and would like a diploma cover, please contact us via email: Up-commencement@lonestar.edu
Do I need to apply to graduate?
Yes. All students must complete and submit a graduation application to receive their diploma. This application is required for degrees to be conferred and for students to be officially recognized as LSC graduates. Even if students do not participate in the graduation ceremony, they must still submit a graduation application to have their degree conferred.

Do I have to attend graduation orientation to walk graduation?
Although it is not required that you attend graduation orientation to participate in the ceremony, it is very strongly encouraged. The orientation provides important details on the ceremony, cap and gown purchases, diplomas, and more. Two sessions are available: one in-person and one virtual. If I don’t want to walk at the graduation ceremony, do I still need to attend graduation orientation?
No. Attending graduation orientation is not required if you do not plan to participate in the ceremony. However, we highly recommend attending an orientation to stay informed about important graduation details.
Can I request additional tickets? How do I submit my request?
Students may request up to 5 additional tickets, subject to availability, by emailing Up-commencement@lonestar.edu. Tickets can be picked up by either you or a family member at the Berry Center ticket window on Graduation Day. Please note that ticket availability is limited, and additional requests are not guaranteed.
If I complete my degree in December, can I still walk in the graduation ceremony in May?
If you applied for Graduation during the 2024-2025 academic year (September 1, 2024 – August 31, 2025), you are eligible to participate in the graduation ceremony on May 9, 2025. To ensure your application has been submitted and processed, we recommend contacting your academic advisor via email for confirmation: Up-advising@lonestar.edu
Do Dual Credit students need to apply for graduation?
Yes. All students, including Dual Credit students, must complete and submit an application for graduation to receive their diploma. Applying for graduation is required for students’ degrees to be conferred and be officially recognized as LSC graduates. Even if students choose not to participate in the graduation ceremony, they must still complete an application for graduation to have their degree conferred.
How do I know if I am eligible for graduation as a Dual Credit student? Will I be notified of my eligibility?
Please reach out to your high school counselor to check your graduation status. The LSC-UP Records Department will notify students who are eligible for graduation and provide assistance with the graduation application if needed.
What is Dual Credit's contact information?

Will food and drinks be available at the graduation ceremony?
Water, coffee, hot tea, and light breakfast items such as granola bars and doughnuts will be provided for graduates. A limited menu of snacks (chips, candy, etc.) will be available for guests to purchase. Please note that no outside food or drink are permitted in the Berry Center.
If I can’t purchase a cap and gown, are there any available to rent or borrow?
Yes. If you're facing financial constraints that make it difficult to purchase a cap and gown, the LSC-UP commencement committee has a limited number available to borrow. Please reach out to us via email as soon as possible to reserve one: Up-commencement@lonestar.edu.
Where will my information come from for ticketing information?
Graduates will receive an email from LSC-UP when the ticketing system opens. Once the ticketing system opens, graduates will be able to request their tickets through the link provided in the “Ticketing & Guest Information” section on the www.lonestar.edu/upcommencement website.
Do you provide handicap items for family? (Wheelchairs)
Equipment (wheelchairs, walkers, canes, etc.) for family members with disabilities will not be provided at the ceremony, but we will have staff on site to assist those in need with seating accommodations. If graduates have accessibility needs, they should indicate those on their RSVP form and someone from the Disability Services department will contact them to make appropriate arrangements.
How do we receive tickets? Email? In person?
Once a for guest tickets is submitted, graduates will receive an email with their tickets attached as a PDF. The graduate has the option to email those tickets to their guests or print them out and delivery them in person.

Will Dual Credit students be receiving cords or stoles?
Yes. Dual Credit students will receive cords to wear with their graduation regalia during their high school graduation. If a student has fulfilled the requirements to earn a Lone Star College Credential, like a Certificate or Associates degree, they can also wear the cords at the LSC-UP ceremony. Dual Credit students should contact their high school counselor to get additional information about when and how the cords will be distributed.
Please note that participation in the ceremony does not guarantee graduation from Lone Star College. Graduates must meet all requirements and competencies before degrees will be issued and must not have any outstanding financial obligations to Lone Star College System. It is the student's responsibility to ensure that all requirements are complete. Please check your MyLoneStar email for important updates about the graduation ceremony and your graduation status.
