ESOL/ESL program offers courses in reading, grammar, writing, and oral communication in five levels from beginning to advanced. All courses help students enhance their fluency in both spoken and written English. Small class sizes allow each student individual attention from highly-qualified instructors. The program uses the most current teaching methods, and students have access to Lone Star College’s state-of-the-art technology and resources.
ESOL/ESL students may obtain non-transferable credits or continuing education units (CEUs), depending on their enrollment. In general, students who are US citizens, permanent residents (green card holders), and students who are on an F-1 visa enroll as CREDIT students. Others register through the department of Career and Technical Education as CONTINUING EDUCATION students.
Visit the Admissions area in the Student Conference Center (SCC) to register as a credit student. Or visit Career and Technical Education in the Technology Instructional Building (TIB) to register as a Continuing Education student.
LSC-Kingwood is authorized to issue the I-20 for students who need to obtain an F-1 visa (student visa) to study at Lone Star College-Kingwood. Contact KCstudentvisa@lonestar.edu or visit F-1 Students Admisions for more information.
The Students
ESOL/ESL program serves a diverse group of students from over fifty countries. Some students are immigrants who have made the United States their home; others are international students who are in the U.S. to pursue an academic degree. The program also caters to professionals and their families who are in the country temporarily to work and improve their English language skills.
Students who complete the Academic ESOL/ESL courses may move directly into academic studies at LSC-Kingwood, apply for admission to other colleges or universities, or return home with enhanced English language skills to apply to their work or studies.
