National Model United Nations (NMUN)
National Model United Nations provides a diverse group of informed college/university students and faculty from all over the world a forum for addressing global concerns in a real world context. Conferences address important issues including regional conflicts, peacekeeping, human rights, women and children, economic and social development, and the environment. In its simplest sense, NMUN works to provide student participants with a better understanding of the inner working of the UN as they build skills in diplomacy and compromise. More than 5,000 college/university delegates, half from outside the United States, come to New York City each spring to discuss current global issues on twenty selected committees. Outside conference sessions, delegations enjoy the proximity to Permanent Missions, world class museums, restaurants and shopping, and the United Nations itself. NMUN's premiere conference is held with UN Headquarters as a backdrop.
