A Z-Degree is a pathway through which students can obtain an associate degree without incurring textbook costs or other course fees along the way.

What is a Z-Degree Class?

Z-Degree classes use free materials such as open educational resources (OER) to save you money. Take an individual Z-Degree class or complete a general Associate of Arts program by carving your own Z-Degree pathway!

Classes must have no course material costs (including supply and/or equipment costs) or any other associated course fees to receive the Z-Degree Class designation.

How to Find a Z-Degree Class

• Open LSC’s Class Search tool
• Click “View Classes”
• Select a semester term
• Search for a course required by your program pathway
  Example: EDUC 1300
• Filter your results by Class Attribute > $0 Dollar Textbooks to find Z-Degree class sections
• Enroll in the Z-Degree class that’s right for you!
