  • The Lone Star College drama departments offer training in acting, musical theatre, design, technology, and management.

Program Highlights

  • Our departments are nationally recognized, and present multiple stage productions in a variety of spaces and styles each year, putting classroom work and discussions into practice.

Credentials and Careers

  • LSC offers an Associate of Arts in Drama, which includes tracks in performance, design/technical, and a general area for those pursuing teacher certifications.
  • Completion of an associate degree in drama opens potential avenues for careers in entertainment, education, management, performance, design, human resources, and communication.

Transferability

  • The Drama program is designed to be accepted into many related bachelor programs and institutions.
  • General education courses (Core) are designated for easy transfer to Texas public institutions and applicable to requirements at private and out-of-state institutions.

  1. Discuss the history and development of global theatrical practices – including Western, Eastern, and Indigenous practices.
  2. Implement critical thinking and textual analysis skills focusing on elements of dramatic structure, design, dialogue, styles, creative writing, and theatrical practices.
  3. Apply theories of theatre production as they relate to participation in theatrical design, set construction, costuming, lighting, sound, acting, stage management, and/or administration.
  4. Develop and practice collaborative and problem-solving skills.
  5. Present theatrical productions to the public.
