Electrocardiogram (EKG) monitor technicians are primarily responsible for monitoring patients' heart statuses in a hospital environment. These technicians are responsible for immediately informing doctors or physicians when irregularities arise in a patient's stats. Though this work is more mentally intensive than physical, EKG monitor technicians use electrocardiograms to monitor a patient's heart activity. Other responsibilities include reviewing patient records for normal heart rhythms and using instruments to measure length and height of heart patterns. Students with this certification can continue their education to become cardiovascular or cardiopulmonary technicians.
