This is the vision behind Panther Strong at LSC-Houston North. The college journey can be a lonely one. Students may be working full-time while taking classes, maybe taking care of a family as well. The demands of education are many, and expectations are high.

It can feel overwhelming and isolating, especially for students who aren’t surrounded by other students in their non-school life. That’s why we’ve designed Panther Strong to address the needs of our students. Panther Strong offers structure, consistency, and support.

Panther Strong is designed for students who are committed to their education and looking to complete their degree in exactly two years, Panther Strong is a cohort-based program offered at LSC-Houston North.

No more wasted coursework or time, as your entire schedule is mapped out based on your major and when you can attend class. From the beginning, you will see the guided pathway and exactly when each course is offered in the program. In addition, we offer you support in admissions, registration, academic advising and applications for financial aid. Free tutoring will be available on campus or online. If you need college for job advancement or transfer to a four-year university, don’t just take a class—complete a program and earn a degree.

Panther Strong helps take the stress and anxiety about going to college away by offering a structured path to completion. LSC-HN will offer the classes you need at the time that you need them. No more wondering what you should take and if it is going to be offered! In addition, as a member of the Panther Strong cohort, you will get priority registration each semester, personalized advising and access to on-demand support services including financial aid and scholarship opportunities. Additional highlights include:

• Morning, Afternoon, Evening and weekend options available
• Classes are offered in our 8-week format
• Classes combine face-to-face meetings and online learning
• Tuition and Fees are the same as general LSC classes
• A number of applied science and technical programs designed to prepare students for employment and update their technical skills.
• The opportunity to complete a degree in 2 years.
• Take Saturday and online courses without interrupting the work week.
• Students earning a degree through the Panther Strong program meet all State of Texas educational core requirements and many students transfer those credits to a four-year institution to earn a bachelor’s degree.
• Developmental courses that improve the basic skills of students whose academic foundation needs strengthening are available.

Can anyone join Panther Strong?

Yes! Anyone pursuing one of the academic programs offered through Panther Strong can join as long as they apply and commit to completing the program. This program is ideal, however for new students or students that have stopped attending and recently changed their major.

Are there any scholarships available for Panther Strong?

Yes! There are quite a few scholarship opportunities connected to Panther Strong. The first step is completing a financial aid application to determine your need and eligibility.

How is Panther Strong different from just taking regular classes?

Panther Strong is a cohort-based program that makes completing your degree easy! Your entire schedule is already mapped out for the next two years which allows you to still work and plan your life around school. In addition, you will be in class with students that are pursuing the same major as you and learning from Faculty trained specifically to support students through this type of program. In addition, we  will offer you one on one support in admissions, registration, academic advising and financial aid.

When does the program start?
We have a few selected cohorts starting this Summer (June, 2021) and all other cohorts will start Fall 2021

What are the requirements to be accepted into the program?
Students must complete:

• An LSC and Panther Strong application
• A Financial Aid application
• Students must attend the Panther Strong Program Orientation

What are the requirements to stay in the program?
Students must:

• Maintain a 2.0 GPA
• Enroll in at least 3-4 classes each semester
