Bring the family to enjoy an entertaining afternoon mix of drumming, dancing and vocalists at the May 17 Percussion One Foundation event at Lone Star College-CyFair.
Percussion One (a high school drumline and artsits in residence at LSC-CyFair), P1-13 Cy-Fair and P1-13 Klein (junior high/middle school percussionists) and other artists will present “out of the box” performances covering a wide range of aural and visual styles.
“Percussion, Drumline, Techno, Fusion, Drum Circle, Dancers and Vocals are some of the many elements you will enjoy at this 4 p.m. event,” said Lamar Burkhalter, founder and executive director of the nonprofit Percussion One Foundation. “In addition, participate in the silent auction at 3 p.m. with donations from many companies and sports teams from the Greater Houston area. Come be entertained as we’re Drummin’ for Dollars and Beatin’ for Bids.”
Percussion One is a diverse group of musicians and percussionists who have performed throughout Texas and locally at Houston area professional sports pre-game and half-time shows under the direction of Burkhalter. He expanded Percussion One to provide instruction and performance opportunities for junior high/middle school percussionists, P1-13, as well as to help with their overall preparedness for a high school drumline.
