HOUSTON (April 12, 2022) – Lone Star College offers quality educational offerings at three locations in the Lake Houston community.
Lone Star College-Kingwood, which opened in 1972, is the main campus. However, its two satellite facilities, LSC-Atascocita Center and LSC-Process Technology Center, offer general college courses and workforce programs.
“Our two centers are convenient options for community members to take college classes toward an associate degree, transfer credit to four-year universities, and continuing education certificates,” said Dr. Melissa Gonzalez, LSC-Kingwood president.
The satellite campuses will host public events to highlight their unique offerings. The LSC-Process Technology Center Open House is on Thursday, May 5 and the LSC-Atascocita Center Open House is on Thursday, May 19. Both events are from 5-7 p.m., will offer light refreshments, and prospective students will have a chance to register for summer and fall classes.
“Our centers can assist you regardless of where you are in your educational journey,” Gonzalez said.
The LSC-Process Technology Center Open House will reintroduce the building to the community. Professors will provide attendees with various details and descriptions of the process technology and instrumentation technology programs. Additionally, student services representatives will be on hand to discuss advising, registration, and financial aid needs.
“We want the community to know that we are a place dedicated to teaching the skills needed for a successful career in the process and instrumentation technology industry,” said Roger Chambers, interim dean of the LSC-Process Technology Center. “Although we focus on those two programs, we constantly communicate with our industry neighbors to determine how we can further serve our students to pursue careers in various fields.”
At the LSC-Atascocita Center Open House, people will learn more about course offerings, including core classes (basics), pre-health occupation courses, and general electives. Additionally, there will be a raffle, and attendees will get a chance to learn more about essential resources such as financial aid, advising, continuing education, Communities in Schools (counseling), library, veterans center, and career services.
“We encourage the community to come out, visit with representatives, and learn how we can assist them with their academic or career goals,” said Karen Woolley, interim dean of the LSC-Atascocita Center. “Soon, students will have the opportunity to earn certain certificates through Continuing Education.”
Enrollment is now open for May, summer, and fall courses. For more information on the open houses at LSC-Process Technology Center and LSC-Atascocita Center, visit https://www.lonestar.edu/lsc-process-technology-center-open-house or https://www.lonestar.edu/lsc-atascocita-center-open-house.
