Starting June 15, the Lone Star College System Law Enforcement Basic Peace Officer Academy will be accepting applications for the upcoming fall 2009 basic peace officer courses, which begin Monday, Sept. 8. The academy, located at the system’s Greenspoint Center, 250 N. Sam Houston Parkway E., offers both day, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and night classes, 6 to 10 p.m. After successful completion of these courses, a person is eligible to take the state licensing examination to be a Peace Officer.
The program meets the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education (TCLEOSE) requirements for a Peace Officer certification. Estimated cost for tuition, fees, books, and equipment (not including cost of handgun) is $1,901.
