The traditional 16-week spring semester at Lone Star College began on Jan. 18, but there is still time to enroll in a course or two at LSC-Kingwood or its satellite centers.

Each semester, the college offers Next Start classes ranging from eight to 14 weeks; and are available online, in-person, or hybrid format. These courses fit a broad range of academic goals to help students earn associate degrees, program certificates, or transfer credits to a four-year university.

“It is never too late to enroll in classes at the main campus, LSC-Atascocita Center, or LSC-Process Technology Center. We offer a variety of instructional courses, programs, and options that can fit your schedule,” said Dr. Melissa Gonzalez, LSC-Kingwood president.

College officials invite current and potential students to attend the Super Saturday event on Feb. 5 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. in the Student Conference Center. Here, participants can enroll in Next Start classes, receive financial aid information, talk to advisors, take placement testing, attend new student orientation, and purchase textbooks. They are eligible to receive a scholarship.

“These classes offer students the opportunity to earn a degree or transfer credit at an accelerated pace,” Gonzalez said.

Next Start 14-week courses start Jan. 31; 12-week classes begin Feb. 14, and eight-week programs start March 23. All courses end May 15. Offerings include accounting, arts, biology, business computer apps, business principles, chemistry, communication, computer programming, criminal justice, dance appreciation, drama, economics, EDUC 1300, education, engineering, English, environmental science, ESOL, fire science, geology, government, history, human relations, IT, Japanese, math, music, philosophy, physical education, physics, process technology, psychology, sociology, Spanish, and speech.
