Start your path to success, academically and professionally, at Lone Star College-CyFair where students have resources to succeed every step of the way. Registration opens Oct. 9 for the 2024 spring semester.
Students are not alone on their college journey as LSC-CyFair’s faculty and staff are dedicated to supporting students through the Academic Success Center (ASC), The Empowerment Center (TEC), the Harris County Public Library’s LSC-CyFair Branch and Student Services Department.
The ASC provides tutoring, language labs, open labs, a Multimedia Center as well as math, science and writing centers. In addition, the ASC hosts various workshops, TSIA2 review sessions, exam jams during finals and more.
LSC-CyFair’s TEC houses a food pantry (which includes toiletries and school supplies), career closet for interview and presentation outfits as well as counseling services. There is also an Empowerment Corner Food Pantry for students at the LSC-Cypress Center.
Academic assistance is also available at the LSC-Cypress Center with a Facts and Snacks seminar series featuring topics, such as Time Management and Study Skills, Using Healthy Coping Skills and Prepping for Finals. For students with children, the center’s Family Study Nights offers students time to study with faculty and tutors, provides activities, reading, crafts and homework help to their children as well as food for all attendees.
The LSC-Westway Park Technology Center, which houses the IT and Visual Communication programs, hosts events that allow students to explore cybersecurity, programming, 3d animation or graphic design careers as well as gain insight from industry professionals. The staff and faculty also work to place students in internships exclusively for the center’s students.
LSC-CyFair’s librarians are “expert resources” ready to serve students with assistance for classroom and community project success. The library hosts pop-in tours to share resources and services available such as citation help, research guides, study rooms, id cards and aid in accessing databases, finding articles and tutorials, and searching for books or audios and more.
The Student Services Department includes help such as advising, career services, counseling, financial aid, new student orientation, testing, transfer services and veteran support, just to name a few. Throughout the semester there are multiple academic-related workshops and presentations as well as advising and registration events.
LSC-CyFair’s faculty, departments for various disciplines and Student Life also host speaker presentations, sessions on academic topics, leadership programs and collaborative events beyond the classroom to enhance the college experience and success of students.
