Don’t miss the “Egg Stories” expressed through a literal and metaphorical lens from the perspective of 12 artistically diverse, emerging and established artists in the Bosque Gallery Oct. 5 – Nov. 9 at Lone Star College-CyFair.
In this fall exhibition, the artists, with different styles, philosophies and purposes for their art, include Kathy Drago, Roslyn Dupre’, Silvina Hecker, Veronica Ibarguengoitia, Jeanne Jones, Pat McEnery, Nergis Mustafa, Ellen H Ray, William Reed, Marty Simpson (@Martysimpsonart), Laurie Sines (@Lauriesinesart) and Gretchen Bender Sparks.
Some artists will be appreciating the egg’s perfection, its role in evolution, its place on tables, or its inherently humorous nature, while others will be considering the egg metaphorically and symbolically to take on current cultural issues and themes expressed through history.
These artists, each of whom responds to themes such as origin, birth or re-birth, reproduction, the natural world, hope, and fragility using the egg as a vehicle of expression, will explore the compelling and universal topic of the egg.
As eggs often play the role of a binder in recipes, the “Egg Stories” exhibition gives these artists an opportunity to purposefully bring their individual practices into a cohesive art experience. They will offer their understanding of, and question, the stories that eggs tell in this unique exhibition at the Bosque Gallery where visitors can view and interact with their work.
Through a variety of disciplines, such as painting and drawing, sculpture, fiber arts and video, individual artists in this group have had solo exhibitions at many local, regional and national venues with many having shown internationally as well. As a collective, they have had group shows all around Houston.
Meet the artists at the 6:30 p.m. opening reception Oct. 5 and learn more at the 1:30 p.m. Library Art Talk set Oct. 18.
