Cy-Fair College's Beta Lambda Mu Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa will host a college and community series of satellite seminars with prominent scholars and focused on political and international issues.
The first in a series of four is titled “Dealing with the Dragon: America’s Economic Relationship with China” and will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30, on the Barker Cypress campus.
Zanny Minton Beddoes, U.S. Economics Editor for The Economist, will present this seminar through a video lecture. Facilitating the following discussion are Cy-Fair College's professors Carolyn Ho, Bobby O’Brien and Ben Tang.
The second seminar is titled “American Theocracy; Politics, Radical Religion, Oil, & Borrowed Money in the 21st Century” and will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 26, on the Barker Cypress campus.
Kevin Phillips, Political and Economic Commentator and author of “American Theocracy,” will present this seminar through a video lecture. Facilitating the following discussion will be Professors Tom Kelly and Christoph Schiessl.
The remaining two satellite seminars, “How to Win a Cosmic War” with author and Scholar of Religions, Reza Aslan and “Afghanistan after the Taliban,” with Afghan-American author Tamim Ansary, will be held in the spring of 2008.
