New Summer Reading Program for Adults Available

Summer Reading Programs at Harris County Public Library (HCPL) branches, including the Lone Star College–CyFair Branch Library, are not just for children and teens anymore.

This year, HCPL teamed up with Barnes and Nobles to host a summer reading program for adults ages 18 and older titled Reading – The Ultimate Vacation. Program participants will be eligible to win Barnes and Noble gift cards just by reading or listening to three books this summer. In August, each branch will draw a winner for a $20 gift card and HCPL will draw a winner from all participants for a $150 gift card.

Lone Star College–CyFair Branch Library also hosts a variety of monthly book clubs for area adults. Join the Sports Page Book Club for sports talk and books such as Mark Zupan and Tim Swanson’s
“Gimp: The Story Behind the Star of Murderball” Wednesday, June 13. The I Love a Mystery Book Club discusses a different theme each month such as Mediterranean setting Wednesday, June 27. The Explore Women of the World Book Club Kate Chopin’s “The Awakening” Tuesday, June 19. The Democracy Book Clubs will discuss Wangari Maathai’s “Unbowed” Thursday, June 28.
