Partnership to meet start up, expansion needs of area companies

One stop shopping is often over-rated, if the truth be told. However, there is an economic development partnership that has been formed between the North Houston-Greenspoint Chamber of Commerce, Small Business Development Center, and Lone Star College-North Harris that is giving renewed credibility to the term.

"The intent is to bring together these proven leaders in business solutions and workforce development so that individuals and companies won't have to search for resources to advance their fiscal bottomline," said Jimmy Adams, LSC-North Harris dean and an expert in developing delivery systems to maximize workforce and economic development.

Entrepreneurs and small to mid-sized companies continue to expand locally to market their services globally. The need to serve these companies has never been greater. Rather than compete for clients and duplicate services, the partnership has created the Center for Business Development to better serve the north Houston region.

"Basically we've divided up areas of need among our partners. We have workforce training solutions, business consulting and technical assistance, business networking services and business development services for start up. Whether you're an entrepreneur with an inventive idea or a corporation in need of specific contract training for employees, we can deliver," Adams said. "You don't have to figure out who to call, either. There's only one call to get the ball rolling. Make that call and the partnership will decide where to connect you with the best solution."

The initial point of contact will be with the North Houston-Greenspoint Chamber, which is located east of I-45 at 250 N Sam Houston Parkway E, across the freeway from Greenspoint Mall. The location is the physical address of Lone Star College-Greenspoint Center, which is a satellite center of Lone Star College-North Harris.
