A Lone Star College–CyFair and Prairie View A&M University (PVAMU) articulation agreement was officially signed Wednesday, Feb. 21 that will enable Lone Star College–CyFair students to complete three PVAMU bachelor’s of business administration degrees on the Barker Cypress campus.
Last week, PVAMU President Dr. George C. Wright joined Lone Star College System (Lone Star College System) Chancellor Dr. John E. Pickelman in the signing ceremony of the agreement.
“This is an extraordinary agreement,” said Lone Star College–CyFair President Dr. Diane Troyer as she recognized the behind-the-scenes work of PVAMU’s Dr. Munir Quddus, College of Business dean and Lone Star College–CyFair’s Feleccia Moore-Davis, dean of Business, Math, Communications and CIT. “Not only will we transfer both our field of study in business and our associate of applied science in management to the BBA at Prairie View, but the BBA will be offered on our campus as part of our weekend college.”
Students will be able to complete their BBA in finance, management or management information systems on the Barker Cypress campus. PVAMU will collaborate with Lone Star College–CyFair in advising students for these programs as well as to facilitate student success.
“Management degrees are among the top five degrees granted in this country,” said Moore-Davis. “With the growth of the business programs in the area and across the state, this was a natural fit for us.”
Dr. Quddus said this is an important development in their efforts to take their nationally accredited programs to residents of Northwest Houston and that Dr. Wright and PVAMU is fully committed to this partnership and to providing excellent services to the community college transfer students.
Chancellor Pickelman, who said Lone Star College System is known for its collaboration and working for the betterment of its students, was delighted to once again partner with Prairie View.
Through a previous partnership between the Lone Star College System and Prairie View A&M University, the Joint Admission Agreement, individuals are admitted to Lone Star College System and PVAMU simultaneously. Students can then earn credits toward an Lone Star College System associate degree and a PVAMU bachelor’s degree at the same time.
Lone Star College–CyFair is expected to offer this new program this summer with PVAMU offering the programs in the fall.
