ENCAUSTIC EXHIBITION
Step back in time and see and ancient method of painting featured at Lone Star College–CyFair with the Encaustic Exhibition on display Feb. 20 through March 29 in the Bosque Gallery.
Encaustic painting combines colored pigment with hot wax as a binder. This ancient method of painting allows an astounding array of techniques that include sculptural applications, luminous transparencies, opaque impasto, and limitless mixed media capabilities. Many of today’s contemporary artists are pioneering a resurgence of encaustic painting.
This Lone Star College–CyFair exhibition will showcase work completed in Robert McGehee’s Continuing Education Encaustic class.
An artist reception will be held from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, March 1.
Gallery hours are Tuesday through Thursday 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. or by appointment with Sarah Cassidy, gallery coordinator, at 832-482-1038. For information, go online to cyfair.lonestar.edu/goto/bosquegallery.
