Lone Star College to host Financial Aid Event to help students complete FAFSA application

The National College Attainment Network reported high school seniors left $3.58 billion on the table in Pell Grants by not completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) application in 2022.

“Completing the FAFSA application can be intimidating,” said Shannon Venezia, Ph.D., LSC Senior Associate Vice Chancellor Financial Aid. “Lone Star College offers various types of financial aid assistance (scholarships, grants and relief funds) that helps students fund their educational and career goals.”

Lone Star College will host a luau-themed Financial Aid Event Tuesday, July 11, from 3-6 p.m. at each LSC campus. The event will provide snacks, drinks and assistance to help students complete their FAFSA application.

Attendees should bring the following documents.

  1. Social Security number
  2. Alien registration number (if not a U.S. citizen)
  3. Federal income tax returns and related files
  4. FSA ID (username and password)
  5. Bank statements, investment records and untaxed income information (if applicable)

Federal Student Aid reported 1.5 million students received assistance in 2022-2023, which included 31% of students at LSC.

“The FAFSA application takes less than an hour to complete,” said Venezia. “Financial aid advisors will be available to help you complete the document, answer questions and help you make the best financial decisions based on your situation.”
