Lone Star College-CyFair offers “Pinocchio Commedia” as an affordable summer entertainment destination for families, daycares and other youth groups June 26-June 29.
“This summer children’s show is a wonderful opportunity to introduce live theatre to children,” said Joshua Estrada, LSC-CyFair Fine Arts Coordinator. “And it's a great indoor activity considering the Houston heat during the summer.”
Come see the Harlequinade version of “Pinocchio” featuring original Italian commedia names, such as Arlecchino, who later became the French Harlequin. In this show, Arlecchino plays a cricket; Pantalone plays Geppetto; Razullo, a fox; Beltrama, a cat; Pulcinella, the wicked puppet master; Pedrolina, a donkey and a fool; Columbina, a spirit and Pinocchio as himself.
The commedia flavor of this adaptation gives the story vigor without losing the charm and significant message of Carlo Collodi's famous story, Estrada said. This style provides entertainment for adults as well as children.
