Lone Star College addresses health care shortages

Lone Star College is one of the leading institutions that continues to address the growing demand for skilled, compassionate health care professionals.

"I am pursuing a career as a clinical medical assistant because the field has always interested me and I enjoy meeting new faces and having the chance to help others," said Valeria Moran, LSC-Conroe Center CMA student. "Lone Star College's CMA program prepares me to work in a hospital and motivates me to continue my studies toward a nursing degree."

LSC offers credit and continuing education health care programs featuring faculty with field experience, small class sizes and state-of-the-art labs and equipment based on real-world environments. The Physical Therapy program at LSC-Montgomery will host an information session on April 26 at noon at the Maverick Student Center, room 120.

Additionally, prospective students can learn more about other health care offerings at an information session via Zoom on May 10 at noon by visiting LoneStar.edu/HealthCareInfoSessionMay2023. The focus will be on emergency medical tech (EMT), medical assisting, patient care tech and phlebotomy programs.

"Lone Star College's health care programs train qualified and compassionate workers to help the community address various medical challenges," said Linda Leto Head, LSC Senior Associate Vice Chancellor External and Employer Relations. "Additionally, continuing education programs prepare students to enter their chosen medical professions at an accelerated rate and typically trains towards a state licensure.”

Lone Star College offers other health care workforce programs, including dental hygiene, medical lab, nursing, pharmacy and surgical tech. Courses are available at multiple LSC locations. For more information, view LoneStar.edu/Healthcare-Programs.
