The Lone Star College-University Park Drama Department is excited and proud to present “Pippin”, a Tony Award-winning musical based on the book by Roger O. Hirson with music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz. Karley Morris will play Pippin, with Sara Tatar taking on the role of the Leading Player, who serves as the narrator and guide on Pippin’s journey to find happiness and purpose.
“We are excited to bring this magical coming-of-age story to the stage,” said William Grayson, drama professor and production director. “Pippin speaks to the everyman in all of us who is searching for their season and their rhyme, reminding us that true happiness is often found in the ordinary moments of life.”
“We’ve Got Magic to Do” is the opening number of the show and serves as the introduction to the Leading Player and the cast. It sets the tone for the entire show and encourages the audience to let themselves be transported into the magical world of Pippin.
In addition to the lead roles, the production will feature an incredible cast of actors, including Jason Howard as Charles, Wilfred Navaraez as Lewis, Melissa Mascorro as Fastrada, Melissa Cummins as Berthe, Ash Grant as Catherine and Jude Howard as Theo. It will also feature an outstanding ensemble including Armida Montemayor, Tabitha Maxey, and Nebiyu Dewit. Together, this group of performers is sure to deliver an unforgettable theatrical experience.
"We are proud to have assembled such a gifted and versatile cast," said Grayson. "Pippin is a fantastic opportunity for our student actors to shine. I can't wait for audiences to see their hard work and dedication pay off."
Do not miss this captivating story that reminds us to cherish the little moments in life.
