Even if you’re not sure what to major in just yet, come to one of the exciting and informational events April 11 through April 20 to find out why it makes sense to enroll at Lone Star College-CyFair.
Whatever the goal, it is achievable at LSC-CyFair. And there are four events in April to provide information to future students with a goal of jump starting their college journey, beginning rewarding careers, completing courses to transfer to universities, earning workforce certificates and associate degrees with a flexible schedule and low tuition as well as enjoying Student Life while figuring out a career path.
Drop by the April 11 Open House between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to learn about all the opportunities LSC-CyFair has to offer from academic programs and workforce training to Student Life organizations and The Honor’s College at LSC. Get answers to admission, financial aid and registration questions as well as advising on certificate, degree and bachelor programs. Find out what resources for success are available such as tutoring, campus safety, continuing education, online learning, testing services, veteran services, The Empowerment Center, the Student Success Institute and more. For event details, go to LoneStar.edu/OpenHouse.
For Cy-Fair area homeschool 9th to 12th-grade students interested in getting a head start on college, there will be two Dual Credit Interest Sessions, set at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. April 12 in the LSC-CyFair Learning Commons Library Room 131. These sessions will provide homeschool students or parents of these students all the necessary resources available and the eligibility requirements students need to earn high school and college credit at the same time. To RSVP and get details, email CF-DCHomeschool@lonestar.edu.
Another opportunity for fall semester advising and registration help is at Cy’s Reg Rally, which will be held 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. April 13 outside the Center for Academic and Student Engagement (CASE). Students can stop by to review courses that fit their schedule, speak with advisors, check the student portal for a to-do list and register for classes. Students who show they have enrolled in summer or fall classes can also enjoy a slice of “the biggest pizza in Texas”, giveaways, entertainment and Cy the Falcon.
For those considering an exciting career in the IT, Cybersecurity or Visual Communication field, LSC-Westway Park Technology Center is hosting a TechConnections event set 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. April 20. Community members and future students can see work by current students, including VisCom project presentations for industry professionals, tour the state-of-the-art training facility where real-world experiences prepare students for the workforce, and attend the Vizzie Awards ceremony, a design contest which is also open to area high school students. Light refreshments and promotional items will be available while supplies last. For event and contest information, go to LoneStar.edu/wwp-techconnections.
