Lone Star College-Kingwood hosts year-round events highlighting academic and workforce programs and college resources to help individuals start or complete their educational goals.
LSC-Kingwood invites high school juniors and seniors from Caney Creek, New Caney, Porter and Splendora high schools to its 24th annual Project Connections March 28 from 5:30-8 p.m. in the Student Conference Center.
“We will provide important information for families on how to begin their higher education journey,” said Melissa Gonzalez, Ph.D., LSC-Kingwood President. “We encourage everyone to join us for this annual event.”
Students and their parents will have an opportunity to visit various academic departments, meet program staff and learn more about what LSC-Kingwood offers. Financial aid representatives will provide information and assist attendees in completing their federal financial aid applications.
“We will showcase academic and workforce offerings, discuss transfer options to four-year universities and provide helpful tips on how students can be successful in college,” said Gonzalez.
At Project Connections, LSC-Kingwood’s admissions and advising departments will conduct break-out sessions, available in English and Spanish, to answer questions about the enrollment process and advise students on class selection and how to develop an academic plan. Additionally, students can enter drawings for scholarships and door prizes (must be present to win) and participate in fun activities during the event.
High school seniors are encouraged to apply for scholarships through the Rotary Club of East Montgomery County. Applications are available from their high school counselors, and must be submitted by March 23.
LSC-Kingwood Project Connections is sponsored by the Rotary Club of East Montgomery County and area school districts. For more information on the event, email KC-Outreach@LoneStar.edu or call 281.318.4353.
