Lone Star College-Kingwood resumes its “stellar evening”

The Lone Star College-Kingwood Music Department performs various concerts yearly to showcase musical programs in an entertaining environment.

After a three-year delay, the department will bring back the “Stellar Evening of Music” concert Feb. 4 at 7:30 p.m. in the Music Recital Hall at LSC-Kingwood. The 75-minute production will feature music faculty, accompanied by Rob Hunt, DMA, LSC-Kingwood Music Professor and Pianist, who will perform classical, Broadway, Jazz and other popular styles. Afterward, there will be a Meet and Greet Reception for the audience and performers to mingle over desserts donated by area businesses.

"Music is a collaborative human endeavor, and our faculty are looking forward to preparing and presenting a potpourri of music,” said Todd Miller, DMA, LSC-Kingwood Music Professor, Visual and Performing Arts Chair and Director of Choirs.  “We are excited to continue this 25-year tradition that will be fun for us to perform and enjoyable for the public.”

When “Stellar Evening of Music” started in 1996, the college only had three voice students. Today, approximately 70 students are majoring in music, and more than 200 students and community members perform in eight different ensembles.

“This event has been an integral part of growing the music department and has provided thousands of dollars for music scholarships,” said Miller.

General admission tickets for “Stellar Evening in Music” are $25 per person, which includes the Meet and Greet Reception. Reservations are encouraged due to limited seating. Proceeds will go toward the LSC-Kingwood Music Scholarship Fund. Visit LoneStar.edu/Upcoming Events or call 281-312-1709 to make reservations or purchase tickets.
