Tweens can explore renewable and sustainable energy sources when STEMtastic Power Hour returns Dec. 10 at Lone Star College-CyFair.
Designed for ages 10-12, students will engage in hands-on demonstrations and activities in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) from 10:30 a.m. to noon in the Technology Building Room 102.
Registration is required for this event, which is limited to 30 participants and begins Nov. 28 at cflib.info/stemtasticpowerhour. Parents must also accompany their children.
Additional opportunities to enjoy STEM activities but with an art component (aka STEAM) are held at 1 p.m. the third Saturdays of the month in the Kids Corner. Following the STEAM events, tweens can join in a lively hour of cards games, board games or role-playing games at 2 p.m. with Tween Game Time. Both sessions are limited to 20 participants.
With support of the Friends of the Library and in partnership with LSC-CyFair’s pre-service teachers, STEM Service Learning Videos are also available online. Topics range from healthy eating and recycling to science in motion, the human body and things in the garden and seen at the beach.
