Lone Star College dean accepted into prestigious institute

The League for Innovation in the Community College recently accepted Dalia Sherif, Ph.D., LSC-University Center at The Woodlands Executive Dean of Baccalaureate Programs and Partnerships, into the Executive Leadership Institute (ELI). The program only admits a very limited of higher education leaders every year.

“I knew the organization only chooses very few applicants, but I decided to take a chance and apply. This experience is opening many doors that lead to a whole new world of innovation in higher education,” Sherif said. “I am excited to join a long list of professionals I have always admired and respected and bring this experience back to LSC.”

Sherif attended the Community College Baccalaureate Association (CCBA) Conference in 2021 and presented promising practices for LSC Cybersecurity bachelor’s degree program. The conference leaders saw Sherif’s passion for growing baccalaureate programs at LSC, nominated her to the CCBA Board and encouraged her to apply for the Executive Leadership Institute.

“I look forward to attending the League for Innovation’s conference in Arizona and learning and sharing best practices and tools through the Executive Leadership Institute, which will take LSC’s bachelor’s programs to the next level,” said Sherif.

Sherif leads baccalaureate programs through planning, development, implementation, student recruiting and evaluation. Sherif also ensures those programs will effectively support and serve students to successfully complete their chosen program through top-notch processes, collaboration, benchmark data and course scheduling.

LSC is the only community college in the state to offer four baccalaureate degrees in Nursing, Applied Technology in Cybersecurity, Applied Science in Emergency Management, and Applied Science in Energy, Manufacturing and Trades Management.

The League for Innovation in the Community College is an international nonprofit organization with a mission to cultivate innovation in the community college environment. The Executive Leadership Institute is a yearlong program that offers community college administrators an opportunity to engage in leadership discussions with their esteemed counterparts across North America.
