Lone Star College received permission to expand its academic offerings to International students by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP). The SEVP acts as a bridge for nonimmigrants whose primary reason for coming to the United States is to be a student.
“Lone Star College welcomed more than 2,600 International students from over 100 countries this fall,” said Katharine Caruso, Ph.D., LSC Associate Vice Chancellor Honors and International Education. “This benefits students from other countries who are interested in receiving a quality education and introduces American students to different cultures and customs.”
LSC will now be able to offer F-1 visa students the opportunity to study at LSC-East Aldine Center, LSC-Houston North Fallbrook and LSC-Westway Park Technology Center. An F-1 visa student is allowed to temporarily live in the United States for a defined period of time while studying at a school or college.
LSC currently offers F-1 visa students the opportunity to study and earn degrees in Business; Computer/Digital Technology; Energy, Manufacturing and Construction; Health Sciences; Public Safety and more. With this new authorization, F-1 visa students can now enroll in and earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing; a Bachelor of Applied Science in Energy, Manufacturing and Trades Management; or a Bachelor of Applied Technology in Cybersecurity degree.
The Office of International Programs at LSC is prepared to provide students with innovative education and customized support, whether in-person or virtually that moves them closer to their long-term goals.
“You get personalized attention,” said Siraj Batta, former LSC International student. “It really feels like a family and a home.”
