Lone Star College-CyFair’s choral program inspires hope with an evening of mixed music aimed at evoking a sense of belonging in the Oct. 28 “Music Mosaic, iBelong!” concert.
“The concert's title is a reflection of our desire to strive and contribute culturally to the community, performing diverse music and making a positive impact in the life of our students and community members,” said LSC-CyFair Vocal Director Dr. Paulo Gomes.
Launching his inaugural season at LSC-CyFair, Dr. Gomes will lead the Concert Choir and Chamber Singers in “Gloria”, one of the most famous choral pieces by Antonio Vivaldi, as well as other selections from classical, pop, spiritual and jazz styles.
“Vivaldi's Gloria, the major piece in the concert, is a choral piece from the baroque period that gives students a meaningful opportunity to learn and perform it with a small string ensemble,” said Dr. Gomes.
“In the midst of life’s challenging times and battles, we grasp for hope and good things,” he continued. “The idea (of a diverse selection of songs) is this mosaic of music will bring people together in a sense that iBelong.”
Be sure to join Dr. Gomes again Dec. 2 to enjoy music from around the world and travel through time with more beautiful sounds of LSC-CyFair’s choral program.
