Earn Prizes Exploring Democracy in Community Treasure Hunt at LSC-CyFair

Democracy Rocks Treasure HuntAll ages are welcome to participate in the Democracy Rocks Treasure Hunt during Celebrate Freedom Week and Constitution Day in September at Lone Star College-CyFair.

The treasure hunt is designed to help Cy-Fair residents to understand eight important lessons about democracy and to encourage participation in the upcoming Nov. 8 elections.

“We are excited to partner with the League of Women Voters Cy-Fair and the LSC-CyFair Political Science Club to co-sponsor this activity as a fun way to teach a few lessons about democracy and our right to vote,” said Librarian Regina Vitolo.

LSC-CyFair’s students can participate in the treasure hunt throughout the day Sept. 14 and Sept. 15, while the hunt for community residents from pre-k to age 18 will be held between 10 a.m. and 2 pm. on Constitution Day, Saturday, Sept. 17.

Participants will pick up a log sheet in the library and a treasure map to locate eight treasure hunt art installations around the Barker Cypress campus. Each installation has a Democracy Rocks Civics Tag containing a fill-in-the-blank democracy message. Participants returning completed log sheets with the missing word(s) found on the back of the tags will be entered to win prizes.
