Lone Star College-CyFair has cut the traditional semesters in half and doubled the benefits with an “8 is Great” 8-week course format for students with demanding lifestyles.
LSC-CyFair’s focused and flexible 8-week courses are designed for students who are trying to balance work and family while furthering their education.
The “8 is Great” format includes multiple options for success to earn an associate degree while training for a new career or even complete core classes while transitioning to college.
For example, students interested in gaining skills that prepare them to be employable in an in-demand industry career can choose from several workforce programs.
At LSC-Cypress Center, workforce programs include Welding, Machining, Industrial Electronics Technology and Engineering Design Technology. Students can earn an Associate of Applied Science degree in these programs with the 8-week format in two years taking two classes at a time.
At LSC-Westway Park Technology Center, program choices include Network Specialization-Cisco, Computer Programming, Cybersecurity, Mobile/Web Application Development and Network and Computer System Administration. These programs are offered as a combination of 4-month and 2-month courses with more than half of the classes in an 8-week format.
For students who want to get their core courses done at their own pace, 8-week courses in biology, chemistry, philosophy, math, economics, geology, government and more, are offered during the day, evening and online.
Whatever your goal, it is achievable with LSC-CyFair’s “8 is Great” option made to fit your schedule.
Fall classes start Aug. 29. For information and registration, go to LoneStar.edu/CyFair8
