Thomas Gaye wasn’t sure what he wanted his career to be, but he did know a few things. He loved working with his hands and wanted to have time with his family during the week.
After researching which programs fit his interests and which schools fit his needs, it became clear that the Heating, Ventilation Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration (HVAC/R) program at LSC-North Harris was his top choice.
“Looking at all the curriculums from other schools, I decided to go with Lone Star College because of all the equipment they have,” said Gaye. “Compare that to other schools, I didn’t like the setup where you have to be all over the city taking classes, where it’s a one-stop-shop all at Lone Star College.”
LSC-North Harris provided Gaye with more than the flexibility to make his schedule. Through his classes, Gaye was introduced to local companies, including Daikin, a company he has been employed by for nearly five years.
“This career gives me the pleasant feeling of doing a job for somebody and making them feel happy about what I’ve done,” said Gaye.
While Gaye found his calling in one of the college’s nine workforce programs, LSC-North Harris offers students the same flexibility and career opportunities with more than 30 academic programs to choose from.
Registration for workforce and academic programs is open with fall semester classes beginning Monday, Aug. 29.
Students who enroll are automatically entered into weekly drawings from now until the start of the semester for prizes, including:
