Students at Lone Star College-North Harris have a new program available to them this fall with the addition of the Emergency Management Associate of Applied Science (AAS) program.
The Emergency Management program provides training on incident management systems, designing and implementing response strategies for natural and man-made disasters, and focusing on the coordination of inter-agency processes.
Courses will cover a variety of topics with real-world applicability, including:
- Contingency planning
- Risk assessment
- Collaborative inter-agency operations
- Ethics and legal requirements
- Emergency response
- Recovery
- Hazard mitigation
Students can earn a Level 1 or Level 2 certificate or complete the two-year program for an AAS degree, offering flexibility for entering the workforce. The program prepares graduates for employment opportunities with government municipalities, emergency service agencies, risk management agencies, and corporate risk management departments.
The Emergency Management program is pending Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) approval.
