Join Lone Star College-CyFair’s librarians to celebrate National Adopt-A-Cat Month with a variety of programs, presentations, book clubs, contests and more.
"We are excited to share the furry fun of cats and kittens and to provide educational programming for all ages. Programs will highlight the importance of fostering, adopting and advocating for stray and feral cats in the community," said librarian Regina Vitolo. “With a variety of in-person and virtual celebrations, there will be plenty of ‘purr-fect’ programs for cat lovers and future feline friends alike.”
One of the month’s in-person highlights for families will be “Caturday Cat Café” from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. June 18. This event at the library, room 131, features adoptable kitties from Purr Paws Rescue as well as cat-themed games, cat-toy crafting station, beverages and Voodoo Doughnuts pastries and treats. Children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult.
Other in-person events include the Houston Grand Opera teaching artist’s storybook opera in the Kids Corner June 8, the “Cat Advocacy 101” informational L.I.F.E. workshop in LRNC 131 June 13 and the Tween Book Club with Leah Stark June 15.
In addition to weekly online events including Wednesday “Kitty Cat Book Recs with Ms. Laurie” and Saturday “Caturday Story Time” and “Crafting with Kitties at Special Pals Rescue,” there will be the “Virtual Tour and Q&A of The Kitty Bodega” June 26 and a live Webex #CatLoversBookClub June 28.
