Lone Star College-CyFair’s 850 graduates walking at the May 14 commencement are part of the largest graduating class in the college’s history with 2,938 students.
LSC-CyFair’s graduation will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District’s Berry Center and, for the first time, tickets will be issued to attend, with a limit of six per graduate.
““We are so happy to celebrate the nearly 3,000 students with the class of 2022 that have reached their academic and personal goals,” said Interim LSC-CyFair President Dr. Gerald Fernandez Napoles.
Included in LSC-CyFair’s history-making 2022 class are 204 students graduating from CFISD with their high school diploma and an LSC-CyFair associate degree they earned simultaneously in the Dual Credit program, of which 199 are College Academy students.
The College Academy is designed so qualifying CFISD freshman may begin taking a sequence of college-level courses through the Dual Credit program as a cohort. The first cohort graduates of the inaugural College Academy celebrated last year were from Cy Lakes High School. This year, there are cohort graduates from Cy Lakes, Cy Park, Cy Ridge, Cy Woods and Langham Creek.
Five other CFISD Dual Credit students, who earned their LSC-CyFair associate degree as part of the college’s 2022 class, were from Cy Lakes, Cy Creek, Cy Ranch, Cy Ridge and Cy Springs.
As the largest “Single Campus” Dual Credit provider in the state of Texas for two years in a row, LSC-CyFair also has a few additional students graduating through Lamar Consolidated ISD, homeschool, and a local private high school. To learn more about Dual Credit, see a high school counselor.
