Lone Star College to host legal conference

Lone Star College is hosting a free legal conference that will address issues facing Texas community colleges and universities. The one-day conference is for higher education administrators, attorneys and trustees.

“The goal of this conference is to educate and empower attendees so that they can put into practical effect their learnings from the topics discussed,” said John Guest, LSC Deputy General Counsel. “This year's conference will focus on employment law, procurement, construction contracts, Title IX, and Clery Act compliance.”

The LSC Legal Conference will take place Friday, May 20, in the Texas Ballroom of the Lone Star Community Building, 5000 Research Forest Drive, The Woodlands, TX  77381. The event begins at 8 a.m. following a self-serve breakfast that takes place at 7:30 a.m.

Conference speakers include Mario K. Castillo, LSC Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel; John Guest, LSC Deputy General Counsel; Sandy Hellums-Gomez, Partner, Husch Blackwall; Stephen J. Quezada, Counsel, Gray Reed; Daniel N. Ramirez, Partner, Monty & Ramirez LLP; Kenneth Stephens, Jr., Managing Partner, Stephens Reed & Armstrong, PLLC.; Paul Willingham, LSC Chief of Police and Senior Associate Vice Chancellor of Public Safety.

“Subject to State Bar of Texas requirements, the courses offered at the conference have been approved for six Continuing Legal Education credit hours with the State Bar of Texas,” said Guest.
