Make a note to bring the family for upcoming April and Mayl musical evenings with the talented student vocalists and instrumentalists in the Main Stage Theater at Lone Star College-CyFair.
Enjoy a night of opera under the direction of adjunct music instructor Daniel Bircher Friday, April 22 followed with a jazz ensemble concert Friday, April 29 under the direction of music professor John Wolfskill.
This Friday the Opera Workshop will be presenting scenes, arias and duets from a variety of operas including “Le nozze di Figaro”, “Cosi fan tutte”, “Die Zauberflote” and “Falstaff” to name a few.
Next Friday, the Jazz Ensemble will share some of America’s rich musical heritage with soul, rock, swing and Latin pieces.
Don’t miss the final performances of the spring semester with the Symphony Orchestra Wednesday, May 4 and the Concert Choir Thursday, May 5.
The Symphony Orchestra will take the audience on a journey traveling the world from Finland to France to Hungary to America, said Kirk Wilke, director and adjunct music instructor.
Then Bircher returns to conduct the Concert Choir as they celebrate the works of Andrew Lloyd Webber with selections from some of his famous musicals including “Cats”, “Phantom of the Opera”, “Evita” and more.
All these Music Department performances will be at 7:30 p.m. in the LSC-CyFair Center for the Arts building at 9191 Barker Cypress.
The Opera Workshop is free while the other performances are $10 for general admission, $5 for seniors and free for employees and students. Go to LoneStar.edu/boxoffice.
