Lone Star College received the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) Distinguished Budget Presentation Award. The award reflects the commitment of the LSC governing body and staff to meeting the highest principles of governmental budgeting.
“This award represents a significant achievement,” said Jennifer Mott, LSC Chief Financial Officer. “I am tremendously proud of the LSC Financial Planning, Analysis & Treasury Department who are responsible for the financial planning, cash management, debt administration, investments, property tax management and budgeting for the system.”
GFOA established the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award in 1984 to help state and local governments prepare budget documents that reflect both the guidelines established by the National Advisory Council on State and Local Budgeting and the GFOA's best practices on budgeting.
“One of our priorities is to ensure that Lone Star College operates with sound financial practices that are accountable to taxpayers,” said Mott.”
This award is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental budgeting by GFOA. LSC was judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which include clearly communicating its financial story and encouraging people to read the annual budget report.
