Law Enforcement Academy Cadet Graduation

Seventeen Lone Star College-North Harris Law Enforcement Academy graduates crossed the college's Performing Arts Theatre stage on Feb. 5, 2008 to receive certificates of completion-signifying their accomplishments. The cadets will now move into a wide-variety of law enforcement careers.

The college's Law Enforcement Academy is offered at the Lone Star College-Greenspoint Center. The program meets the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education (TCLEOSE) requirements for peace officer certification. After successful completion of these courses, a person is eligible to take the state licensing examination to be a peace officer.

Completing this program is a great accomplishment according to Jimmy Adams, dean of LSC-North Harris' Workforce Training and Community Development, which offers the Law Enforcement Academy training.

"It was a long journey to complete the 660-hour peace officer training program," says Adams. "For the past five months, these students have been in class Monday through Friday and sometimes all-day Saturday. It required dedication, sacrifice, a tremendous amount of study and the ability to learn and retain a great amount of complex material. They have met the challenge and we celebrate the beginning of their careers of protecting and serving the citizens of our State."
